ORGANIZING INSTITUTION
TR Prime Ministry Directorate General of Foundations (
www.vgm.gov.tr), which is a public institution connected to Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry carrying out the management of more than 42.000 Merged (Mazbut) Foundations reached at our time from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods and 280 Appendant (Mulhak) Foundations belonging to Pre-republic period, whose management is currently executed by their trustees and has taken over auditing of Republic period – established, 4,787 New Foundations established in accordance with Turkish Civil Act and their number still keeps on increasing and 166 Community (Cemaat) Foundations and possessing vast experiences in charity.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PANEL
- Drawing the attention of the public to ranking of Turkey in World Giving Index results which has been the same for recent years and discussing this issue with related organizations, institutions, etc.
- Having knowledge about the methodology of aforementioned survey/research
- Identifying the reasons of Turkey’s low ranking place in the Index in recent years
- Seeking solutions to the problems about developing giving activities in Turkey and taking encouraging measures
- Making discussions on the giving activities and tendencies of the countries at the top of the Index
- Making discussions on the situation of volunteering activities and legalization process of volunteering in Turkey
