WOUNDS OF THE DISASTER OF THE CENTURY ARE BEING HEALED: KİLİS ÇALIK MOSQUE REVIVED
One of Kilis’ historic landmarks, the Çalık Mosque — which suffered severe damage during the devastating earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş on 6 February 2023 — is reopening for worship.
The damage assessment, restoration planning, project design, and repair works initiated immediately after the earthquake by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Directorate General of Foundations have been meticulously completed.
The official reopening of the historic mosque will take place on Friday, 4 July, during the Friday prayer.
