SYMPOSIUM ON THE WAQF TRADITION IN TURKISH-ISLAMIC CULTURE AND THE WAQFS OF THE TOKAT REGION
The closing session of the “Symposium on the Waqf Tradition in Turkish-Islamic Culture and the Waqfs of the Tokat Region,” organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye –Directorate General of Foundations, Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Amasya University, and Hitit University, was held at the Yağbasan Madrasa in Tokat, the first madrasa established in Anatolia.
The program, attended by Mr. Taner Karadayı, Head of the Department of Charitable Services of the Directorate General of Foundations, and Ms. Hilal Aydemir, Head of the Department of Culture and Registration, featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Erhan Afyoncu, Rector of the National Defense University, and Mr. Mevlüt Çam, Member of the Council of Foundations.
The symposium, during which the historical and cultural dimensions of our deeply rooted waqf tradition were discussed, concluded with valuable contributions and productive exchanges.
