ISTANBUL’S HISTORIC HERITAGE INSPECTED ON SITE BY UNESCO AND ICOMOS EXPERTS

Within the scope of the Reactive Monitoring Mission concerning the Historic Areas of Istanbul, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, a delegation of experts from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and ICOMOS was hosted by our Directorate General at the Hagia Sophia Madrasa.
During the meeting, our Istanbul First Regional Directorate of Foundations delivered presentations on the conservation and restoration of the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, the ancillary structures of Kariye Mosque, and the Fethiye Mosque Museum and Archaeopark.
As part of the program, the delegation conducted on-site inspections of the relevant historic monuments and sites.
