IN PURSUIT OF CULTURAL AND RELIGIOUS HERITAGE: FIELD INSPECTIONS IN MARDİN AND DİYARBAKIR
Director General Mr. Sinan Aksu, accompanied by members of the Council of Foundations and the Deputy Directors General, began their regional program with a visit to Mardin. Within the scope of the Mardin itinerary, the delegation conducted on-site inspections at Mor Gabriel Monastery, Deyrulzafaran Monastery, Kasımiye Madrasa, Virgin Mary Church, Latifiye Mosque, and the Great Mosque (Ulu Cami). The delegation received detailed information about the ongoing efforts to preserve these monuments, which reflect the rich cultural and religious heritage of this ancient city, and to ensure their transmission to future generations. The delegation then proceeded to Diyarbakır, where they visited the Great Mosque (Ulu Cami), Mesudiye Madrasa, and Hasan Pasha Inn (Han). The restoration and maintenance activities carried out on these significant works of waqf civilization were also examined on-site.
